AMERICAN (Machine Pitch) REGULAR SEASON BASEBALL 2009

Players aged 6 - 8 years old

American League Volunteer List

Airdrie Little League will commence the American Division season on about April 21, 2009 and will wind up with a yearend tournament on or about June 21, 2009.  Each team will play 2 games per week.  With the exception of our League BBQ and Wrap Up Tournament which are held on a Saturday, all American games will be played Monday through Thursday.  Games start at 6:00 PM with a 30 minute practice, followed by 90 minutes of game play.  Barring rainouts, it is our intention to play an 18 game regular season.

The age structure for the American Division is designed for children of ages 6, 7 and some 8 years old (i.e. school grades 1, 2 and 3). Children league age 8 years, who played Little League Baseball last season, may be moved to play in the National Minor-Mosquito (House League) Division, ages 8 through 10 years old at the discretion of the league, depending on the skills of this player.

Age Exemption: An 8 year old player, who has not played Little League Baseball, will not be eligible to play in the Mosquito Division. Any exemption of this ruling must be approved by the Director of American Baseball and endorsed by the President of the League.  The league President and executive has the right to decide if a player is moved up to the Mosquito Division under this age exemption depending on the skills of the player.

The American Division uses mechanical pitching machines as opposed to “coach pitch” style of baseball. The modification to “Machine Pitch” to this Division will better serve to develop our player’s batting skills and allow our Coaches to concentrate on the development of the skills of baseball as opposed to throwing hittable pitches!

Communication with parents regarding American Division schedules/events etc., will be via email from the respective Director of Baseball or their Coach to inform them of which team they have been drafted and details of game and practice schedules.  Information will also be posted on the Airdrie Little League Website.  It is up to the parents of players following the drafting of teams to keep informed of events, schedules and cancellations by contacting their coach.
